Harvey Kryger, also known as Abraham Harvey Kryger, recently stepped down as the Medical Director and owner of Monterey Preventive Medical Clinic, positioned in Monterey, California. Known for its preventative approach to healthcare, the clinic emphasized preemptive strategies against diseases through balanced diets, regular exercise, and hormone regulation. Although he retired in 2023, he remains actively involved in the medical community, conducting research and offering guidance to his previous patients.
Kryger's academic and professional credentials are impressive, holding MD and DMD degrees from the University of Manitoba. His postgraduate years were marked by significant learning and development, including an internship and several fellowships at Stanford University's Santa Clara Valley Medical Centre, starting in 1973. There, he refined his skills in surgical procedures within the Burn Unit and, by 1975, expanded his experience internationally, working alongside renowned plastic surgeons in Israel, France, and Switzerland.
His medical career commenced in 1969 in Vancouver, Canada, where he served the local communities, particularly focusing on preventive dental care among the indigenous populations of Northern Manitoba. His dedication soon led him to a pivotal role at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles, where he was appointed Medical Director in 1975. He oversaw the emergency room and contributed to surgical operations and administrative reviews in this capacity.
In the late 1970s, Kryger ventured into holistic medicine at the Sonoma County Holistic Health Center. His innovative approach included working with a diverse team of health professionals, including one of the first collaborations with an acupuncturist in California. His pioneering efforts continued as he founded the Alternative Medicine Foundation in Sebastopol, which became known for successfully integrating new alternative health modalities.
For the bulk of his career, Kryger was instrumental at the Monterey Preventive Medical Clinic, joining in 1990 and focusing on health promotion and disease prevention. His approach, particularly his specialization in hormone balancing, has been lauded by many patients who benefited from his comprehensive care strategies. His work extended beyond the clinic as he authored influential books such as "Listen To Your Hormones—A Doctor’s Guide to Sex, Love, and Long Life" and "A Woman's Guide to Men's Health," enriching the public's understanding of hormonal health.
He is now focusing on his latest book project, "Surgery without Surgery: How Acupuncture Works in Medical Practice," Kryger aims to meld conventional and alternative medical practices to enhance patient care. Outside the clinical environment, he paints, sculpts, and manages a farm where he raises various animals and promotes the conservation of Monarch Butterflies, contributing to local biodiversity.
Kryger's enduring impact in the medical field and his dedication to community and environmental health underscore his comprehensive approach to wellness and care, marking him as a distinguished figure in medical and local communities.
